West to east, the way you meet them arriving from Destin. Inclusion criteria: these are the twelve recognized beach communities directly on the 18.6 mile 30A corridor, per the county tourism bureau's community list; nothing is added or omitted for commercial reasons.
Dune Allen Beach
Dune Allen Beach is the westernmost community on 30A, known for coastal dune lakes rather than crowds. Pick it when you want water on both sides of the road and the smallest possible scene.
2 · WestGulf Place and Santa Rosa Beach
Santa Rosa Beach is the postal town covering much of western 30A, and Gulf Place at CR-393 is its beachside town center. Pick this stretch for practical convenience: groceries, coffee, and a real local scene at gentler prices.
3 · West-centralBlue Mountain Beach
Blue Mountain Beach is the highest point on 30A at 65 feet, named for the blue lupine wildflowers on its dunes. Pick it for a quiet, family-paced base within a ten minute drive of nearly everything on the road.
4 · CentralGrayton Beach
Grayton Beach is 30A's original town, settled in 1885, and still its most character-rich: state park on one side, Western Lake behind, galleries and bars in the middle. Pick it for personality and nature over polish.
5 · CentralWaterColor
WaterColor is a planned resort community wrapped around Western Lake and next door to Seaside. Pick it for resort amenities with instant access to both the lake and Seaside's town center.
6 · CentralSeaside
Seaside is the 1981 town that launched New Urbanism and played Seahaven in The Truman Show. Pick it for walkable everything and postcard architecture; skip it if crowds wear on you.
7 · Central-eastSeagrove Beach
Seagrove Beach is the old-Florida stretch next to Seaside: canopy roads, Eastern Lake, and a longtime local dining row. Pick it for classic beach-cottage character a bike ride from the famous town centers.
8 · EastWaterSound
WaterSound is a St. Joe planned community known for its dune boardwalks and gated quiet. Pick it for privacy and nature at the doorstep rather than a walkable town scene.
9 · EastSeacrest Beach
Seacrest sits between Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach and is best known for its large lagoon-style community pool. Pick it for east-end location value: walk to both famous neighbors, pay for neither.
10 · EastAlys Beach
Alys Beach is the most architecturally controlled town on 30A: white masonry courtyards, palm-lined symmetry, national design-press acclaim. Pick it for beauty and calm at the top of the market.
11 · East end anchorRosemary Beach
Rosemary Beach anchors 30A's east end with West Indies architecture, a cobblestone town square, and the road's second famous walkable center. Pick it for polish with a bit more evening energy than Alys.
12 · EasternmostInlet Beach
Inlet Beach is 30A's easternmost town and its most practical east-end base: the area's largest regional beach access, a snorkeling reef just offshore, and a fast-growing food row. Pick it for value and space near Rosemary without Rosemary rates.
